W&W 2022 Patek Philippe Ref. 5270P-014 Chronograph Perpetual Calendar
Launched in 2011, the Reference 5270 chronograph with perpetual calendar is heir to several generations of a Patek Philippe iconic double complication introduced in 1941 with Reference 1518. The Manufacture has revisited this timepiece in a model that is both classic and original in style.
The gleaming radiance of platinum – the most precious of metals, yet also the most challenging to work with – accentuates the timeless design of the case with its concave bezel, elegant two-tier lugs and pushers that are satin-finished on the side and polished on the top
The lacquered green dial with its black-gradient rim evokes the body-work of some of the finest vintage racing cars. The applied faceted hour markers and faceted dauphine hands in white gold stand out against the background in a highly legible manner.
The perpetual calendar displays are harmoniously arranged with a date indicated by hand and a moon phases display at 6 o’clock, as well as a double day/month aperture at 12 o’clock, complemented by two small round apertures for the day/night indication and the leap-year cycle.
The central chronograph hand in Pfinodal® is distinguished by its sand-blasted rhodium-plated gray finish, while a shiny black alligator strap with olive stitching adds a classy touch to this Grand Complication.
The CH 29-535 PS Q caliber – the first perpetual calendar chronograph movement entirely developed and produced in-house by Patek Philippe (2011) – is distinguished by its traditional architecture (manually wound, column wheel, toothed-wheel horizontal clutch) combined with six patented chronograph innovations, as well as by its exceptionally slim calendar mechanism (only 1.65 mm for 182 components).
The new Reference 5270P-014 replaces Reference 5270P-001 and joins the collection’s two existing versions in yellow and rose gold.
