Seiko Prospex “Black Series” 2018 Editions

Inspired by the world of night diving, the new Seiko Prospex “Black Series” timepieces come with watch cases fully protected by a hard black coating, black unidirectional bezels, and dials designed for maximum legibility thanks to a bright orange minute hand and massive use of LumiBrite for hands and indices.

Of the three new models, one is driven by a mechanical self-winding calibre while the others feature quartz solar movements which convert all types of light into energy thanks to a solar cell with high performance electricity generation.

All watches are water resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet, equipped with screw-down crown and screw case back, and protected by Hardlex crystal, a toughened mineral crystal glass developed by the Seiko.

The automatic model - the Prospex Diver Automatic Turtle ref. SRPC49K1 characterised by the crown positioned at 4 o’clock - is the largest one with a diameter of 45 mm. Inside, the Seiko in-house calibre 4R36 beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 41 hours. The aperture at 3 o'clock displays the day of the week and the date. The price is Euro 490.

Seiko’s solar technology powers the Prospex Solar Diver ref. SNE493P1 and the Prospex Solar Diver Chronograph ref. SSC673P1. Both watches have a diameter of 43.5 mm. The three-hand model features a calendar lens at 3 o’clock to ensure easy reading of the date. Prices are Euro 380 and Euro 410 respectively. seiko-prospex.com
