Méraud Bonaire

Méraud Watch Co. presents the Bonaire MkII, a captivating timepiece that seamlessly blends vintage aesthetics with modern craftsmanship. This release marks a significant milestone in the company's journey, building upon the legacy of the original Bonaire—a classic that set the foundation for Méraud's identity in 2018.

The evolution of the Bonaire

The Bonaire is an homage to the dive watch heritage, inspired by the idyllic dive spots of Bonaire and stands as a testament to Méraud's commitment to continuous improvement. Embracing the 'Swiss Made' label, the new Bonaire represents a leap forward, featuring Swiss engineering and Belgian design. Unlike its limited-edition predecessor, the Bonaire MkII is the start of Méraud's permanent collection, symbolizing the brand's enduring appeal and confidence in its products.

While the Bonaire now features a 40mm case compared to the 39mm case of the predecessor, subtle changes in proportions create a transformative effect. Despite its 40mm case, the watch maintains a sleek and compact appearance.

The case profile has also undergone meticulous redesign to achieve a slimmer appearance while maintaining a remarkable 200m water resistance. With a height of only 12.2mm, this watch exudes a sense of elegance and comfort. The redesigned crown offers enhanced grip for effortless adjustment.

Unlike the MkI, which utilized sapphire for its bezel, the new Bonaire features a bezel crafted from old-school acrylic. This material choice imparts a warm, vintage-inspired appearance reminiscent of bakelite from bygone eras. It also enabled us to engrave numerals on the underside of the insert, which are then filled with luminescent material, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

The proportions on the dial have been thoughtfully adjusted to achieve improved balance and visual harmony, enhancing the overall aesthetics.

Méraud continues to utilize real rivets for the bracelet. However, the clasp has been entirely redesigned, now featuring a quick adjustment feature for added convenience and comfort. A big plus too is that the bracelet is interchangeable with the Antigua.

La Manufacture “La Joux Perret” - A movement that defines excellence

Méraud has partnered with La Joux Perret, a renowned movement manufacturer in La Chaux-de-Fonds, to power the Bonaire MkII. At the heart of the Bonaire MKII lies the G101 caliber with “soignée” finishing, which is a self-winding mechanical movement that boasts a generous power reserve of 68 hours—a remarkable feat that sets it apart from its peers. The movement is visible through an open caseback allowing enthusiasts to admire the intricate movement.
