Jaeger-LeCoultre - Geophysic True Second Limited Edition with Blue Dial

Starting from December 5th, a special limited edition of the Geophysic True Second model will be on sale through the Jaeger-LeCoultre online Boutique.

Issued as a series of 100 pieces, the new Geophysic True Second Limited Edition combines a 39.6 mm stainless steel case alternating brushed and polished finishes with an ocean blue dial whose sunburst patterning creates a fascinating play of light.

The central cross in the dial – reminiscent of location-mapping instruments – is a nod to the historic 1958 Geophysic model. The triple-faceted hands and the minute track around the flange are coated in luminescent material, making it easy to tell the time at night.

The Geophysic features a true seconds system that causes the seconds hand to move forwards while "beating the second", i.e. by performing a jump every second. The true seconds mechanism remarks the nature of the Geophysic as an instrument watch, where precision is of the utmost importance.

This complication is possible thanks to the manufacture calibre 770, an automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 40 hours.

The oscillating weight, crafted from a single block of pink gold and bears the 'anchor' motif which is also the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo, is cut out to reveal more components of the movement as it rotates.

Entirely decorated with Côtes de Genève, the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. Engraved around the perimeter are the words “limited edition – one of 100”.

Water resistant to 50 metres / 165 feet, the new watch is fitted with a brown calfskin strap with patina.

Available online in Europe and the USA from December 5, the price of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic True Second Limited Edition with Ocean Blue Dial (ref. Q8018480) will be around Euro 10,000 including local taxes in Europe or US$ 9,900 before local taxes in the US.
