Panerai Luminor Ref. 6152/1 "Tropical Dial" Sold at Kaplans Auktioner

Kaplans Auktioner Important watches – Saturday 4 November: Lot Nr. 105 Panerai, Luminor, s.c. "Tropical Dial", Cal 618 (Rolex), Serial no. 124735, Reference 6152-1 sold for 760'000 kr (EUR 65'000).

Lot 105. PANERAI, Luminor, s.c. "Tropical Dial", Cal 618 (Rolex), Serial no. 124735, Ref no. 6152-1, men´s wristwatch, 46 (53,5) mm, steel, manual winding, plastic crystal (damaged), case/movement manufactured by Rolex, leather strap, approx. 1955-1960. 

This watch has been confirmed by the vintage Panerai-specialist Jose Pereztroika also known as Perezcope.

Rolex-Panerai Ref. 6152/1 Luminor dial

• Ref. 6152/1 made by Rolex in 1955 (500 pieces with Rolex big crown) but modified by Panerai in the mid 1960s by adding the patented crown-protecting device and a Luminor dial.
• Evenly faded Tropical Luminor Panerai dial (1960s).
• Original wide double pencil hands with original tritium lume (1960s).
• Original Cortebert-made Rolex Cal. 618 Type 4 with 17 jewels, Glucydur balance wheel and Incabloc shock protection.
• Original leather strap according to vintage strap specialist Kostas Venizelos (Kostas Straps).
