Seiko Astron GPS Solar 2026 Limited Editions: SSH187 & SSJ039
Seiko introduces two new exclusive editions within the Astron GPS Solar collection: The SSH187 and SSJ039 models embody cutting-edge watchmaking technology encapsulated in cosmic-inspired design.
The design, inspired by the Spiral Galaxy phenomenon, is built on dramatic contrast: the dark turquoise dial, adorned with an embossed texture and a glittering effect, is set within a strictly all-black case and bracelet, crafted from lightweight and durable titanium with a super-hard coating.
SSH187: The Flagship Chronograph with Caliber 5X83
The SSH187 model is positioned as the technological flagship of the series. It is equipped with one of Seiko's most sophisticated GPS calibers — the 5X83, which provides not only automatic time correction via GPS signals and a perpetual calendar but also a full chronograph function accurate to 1/20th of a second.
On the chronograph dial, the complexity of the technical execution harmonizes with visual richness. The "Spiral Galaxy" design is integrated into the multi-layered dial architecture, where the radiating pattern emphasizes the dynamics and functional depth of the timepiece. The titanium case with protective coating ensures light weight despite the impressive dimensions.
SSJ039: Clean Lines and Compact Cosmos with Caliber 3X62
The SSJ039 model offers a more minimalist and versatile interpretation of the cosmic theme, utilizing the new generation of compact Astron calibers — the 3X62. This movement allows for a significantly reduced case diameter and thickness, enhancing the watch’s wearability for daily use.
In the SSJ039, the absence of additional chronograph registers allows the "Spiral Galaxy" design to become the dominant visual feature. This clean canvas, with its light-emitting central relief, most fully conveys the idea of a "vortex of galaxies" within a more restrained case. The 3X62 caliber provides essential functions like World Time and Dual-Time, making it ideal for the international traveler.
The release of the limited editions SSH187 and SSJ039 (with 1,500 pieces of each version) demonstrates Seiko's commitment to the harmonious fusion of technological excellence and expressive aesthetics. Both models offer a unique way to wear a piece of the distant cosmos on the wrist.
