Sartory-Billard by Studio Underd0g - SB05 Sunfl0wer

A burst of floral hues from the Studio Underd0g design studio, in collaboration with bespoke watchmaker Sartory-Billard, brings an end to a long, cold, lonely winter. Here comes the Sunfl0wer.

Petal to the metal

At the heart of the SB05 Sunfl0wer is an un-bee-lievable dial, designed by Studio Underd0g and produced by Sartory-Billard. The grand grain guilloche pattern is separated in tone between the seed-filled inner and the golden outer, which is engraved with twenty-four evenly spaced petals. A sapphire disk, upon which the delicate golden hour markers and minute track are printed, floats invisible above the outer dial, with the minutes carried through to the golden ring that divides the two main dial components. A dash of green brings life to the two-piece hour and minute hands, which are themselves, along with the name plates, second hand and second hand sub-dial ring, set in a neutral silver. The case is paired with a beautifully supple handmade Epsom Calfskin strap, courtesy of another British company, The Strap Tailor which is made via a unique multi step tanning process that takes just under a month to complete.

The SB05 Sunfl0wer’s stainless-steel case by Voutilainen & Cattin SA, is 38.5mm across and a slender 8.5mm thick, and is capped with a concave, polished bezel. The lugs are separated from the main case with a polished recess, with the top and side surfaces straight satin-brushed, with a wide, polished bevel dividing them. The main body of the case is media blasted for an even matte finish, giving distinction against the signed, knurled crown.

Rooted in Swiss watchmaking

An equally arresting view is provided on the reverse side by the calibre SMB01, a variation of the Swiss La Joux-Perret 7380 produced exclusively for Sartory-Billard. It is a manually wound calibre, operating with a 90-hour power reserve at 21,600vph/3hz. Decoration is presented with a grey NAC treatment on a circular satin-brushed fi nish, with screws and bevel edges polished, and wheels radially satin-brushed.

L'Horloge Fleurie Genève 2.0

The Flower Clock (Horloge Fleurie) has long been a staple of Geneva. Now, just a short stroll across the Mont Blanc Bridge, lies Geneva's second Flower Clock. The SB05 Sunfl0wer, limited to 10 pcs, will be on display at the Beau Rivage from March 31st to April 4th, and will be made available via Sartory-Billard’s website on April 4th on a first come first serve basis.
