At its core is the automatic P.9010 caliber with central hour and minute hands and a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock. Its three-day power reserve results from a two spring barrels configuration, wound by a bi-directional oscillating weight. Comprising 200 components and 31 jewels, the movement has a diameter of 13¾ lignes and a thickness of 6 mm. The balance, secured by a twin-supported bridge, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). A practical function allows the hour hand to be adjusted in one-hour increments—forward or backward—without affecting the minute hand, making it ideal for time zone changes. For precise time setting, the caliber also includes a stop-second mechanism that halts the balance wheel when the crown is pulled out.

PAM01706’s 44mm case is engineered from Carbotech™, a high-performance composite material exclusive to Panerai, known for its remarkable lightness and resistance to wear. Each case is formed by compressing thin sheets of carbon fibre with a high-end polymer—PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone)—under high heat and pressure. This process produces a material that is 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel, while offering superior resistance to corrosion and physical stress. In practical terms, Carbotech™ enhances comfort on the wrist and ensures long-term reliability even in extreme environments. The Carbotech™ case plates are built with over 200 layers stacked together. The Carbotech™ bezel and crownprotecting device are machined at an angle to the layers, meaning that no two watches are visually identical after machining and finishing. The result is a distinct, matte black finish with a variegated effect that shifts subtly depending on how the light hits it.

The matte green sandwich dial is a direct nod to the Mexican flag, chosen to represent the country’s independence. This connection is echoed in the safety stitching of the black calf leather strap, which features the national flag’s green, white, and red colors. The Super-LumiNova® X2 glows green in low light, further highlighting the visual hues. Luminor Marina Carbotech™ - Limited Edition Mexico PAM01706 is water resistant up to 30 bar (~300 meters) and as with all Panerai timepieces, this watch is tested to +25% of its stated water resistance. The caseback engraving reads “MEXICO”, making each piece a proud, permanent tribute. A second black rubber strap offers a more tactical look, suitable for active use and complementing the Carbotech™ case with its matte finish.
