Panerai Luminor GMT Ceramica 40mm PAM01783
When Panerai’s maritime soul meets modern ceramic design: discover the new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01783 e-commerce exclusive.
Following the launch of the all-black Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, Panerai introduces the new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01783, an e-commerce limited edition of 80 pieces, featuring avant-garde black aesthetics and a striking deep blue dial in a 40mm case. This marks the second time the Maison has combined this versatile size with ceramic. The PAM01783 will be available exclusively online on panerai.com starting in November.
PAM01783 seamlessly blends Panerai’s functional heritage, readily apparent in its signature hallmarks – including the crown-protecting bridge, sandwich dial construction for enhanced luminosity, extended power reserve, and bold design – with cutting-edge expertise in material innovation and useful daily complications. The inclusion of the GMT function, allowing for simultaneous tracking of two time zones, underscores the technical sophistication and practical utility of this timepiece for discerning global citizens.
With the Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01783, Panerai reaffirms its dedication to pushing boundaries, constantly experimenting with innovative materials like ceramic, adaptable dimensions, and valuable complications like GMT,” explains Jérôme Cavadini, Chief Operating Officer of Panerai. “This watch not only showcases our technical expertise in mastering the complexities of ceramic and advanced manufacturing but also reflects our commitment to delivering professional tool watches. It is a testament to the innovative spirit we aim to share with our clients, building upon the functional legacy born from the rigorous requirements of the Italian Navy.”
Panerai’s Swiss precision manufacturing powerfully unveils through the use of ceramic, a material synonymous with exceptional performance. Since introducing its use in 2007 with the Radiomir Black Seal Ceramica PAM00292, ceramic has become a cornerstone of Panerai’s high-tech portfolio, prized for its lightweight nature that ensures remarkable comfort, and its superior resistance to high temperatures, corrosion, and scratches, ensuring lasting durability. But it is in the creation of Panerai cases that the Maison truly demonstrates its expertise, transforming ceramic into intricate and highly functional tool watches and resulting in timepieces that capture the Maison’s sporting yet sophisticated essence.
Beyond the striking combination of a black case and blue dial, the PAM01783 boasts enhanced legibility thanks to white Super-LumiNova® X2 on the numerals, markers and hands. A subtle nod to Panerai’s Italian heritage is the “BiTempo” inscription, the Italian term for “dual time,” displayed on the dial.
This novelty is powered by the automatic P.900/GMT movement, a calibre renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The calibre, visible through the smoked sapphire crystal open case back, integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions, measuring 12½ lignes (28.2mm) in diameter and only 5.20 mm thick. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is fixed in position by a balance cock. The calibre is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. Its GMT complication with a 12-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones.
PAM01783 embodies the Maison’s unwavering dedication to water resistance, a legacy forged in its origins as secret supplier to the Italian Navy, providing purpose-built instruments for the most demanding underwater operations. With water resistance up to 30 bar (~300 meters), this new launch reinforces Panerai’s undisputed reputation in this domain. This performance is rigorously validated at the Laboratorio di Idee, where each watch undergoes underwater testing at pressures exceeding its guaranteed rating by 25%.
The 40mm black ceramic case is paired with a black calf strap and a second blue rubber strap, equipped with the PAM Click Release System™ on both strap and buckle, requiring no tool for easy changes and making it versatile for various occasions and styles.
