ochs und junior’s Christmas edition 2024: Ludwig Oechslin’s settimana junior with comic booklet by Sjoerd van Rooijen

In December 2020, the settimana (limited) was introduced for the first time into the official ochs und junior collection. This watch symbolized the entry of the “Juniors” into our family business and accompanied our move from Lucerne to the historic watchmaking city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Since then, Ludwig Oechslin’s 2008 weekday watch has been available in various color and design variants, created by our Juniors, as a series watch on our website.

The diversity of the Junior designs shows that this weekday watch, originally designed for children, has since won over customers worldwide. It has become a watch for all age groups, even a partner watch that successfully bridges generations and genders (see our blog from October 28, 2021). Its ongoing popularity also led to the first unlimited special edition in the history of ochs und junior: the Fifth Wrist-settimana (see our blog from January 10, 2023). This model, designed by the international watch community Fifth Wrist, is produced in our workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds for Fifth Wrist members.

While the “new” settimana was added to our regular collection in 2020, in 2024 we are returning to the design of the “old” or original settimana ( junior) from 2008. Under the motto “Back to the Roots,” we present the 2024 Christmas Edition settimana in a 36mm titanium case, featuring Ludwig Oechslin’s original design in our signature blue and orange. The dial and weekday disc are rendered in the typical ochs und junior blue, complemented by enlarged Arabic numerals, which Oechslin himself designed on his CNC machine.

The date dot, numerals, and hands are strikingly orange (see our blog from December 18, 2008). The watch is powered by an ETA 2824-2 Top Grade movement, and the strap is crafted from orange Ecopell leather by Sabina Brägger. The customer’s name and the edition date will be engraved on the case back. Naturally, the watch is delivered in the famous, specially designed settimana junior comic booklet by Sjoerd van Rooijen (first edition 2009 – see blog from July 3, 2009; updated editions 2012 and 2024).

As an innovative bicycle designer catering to individual needs and as a draftsman and comic artist, the Dutch-born professional has evolved over the years of his work in Winterthur from ‘Illustrator to Cargobike Specialist’ and is once again a full-time illustrator. With the recent founding of a school for illustration - the Bildschule Winti - he guides young (and old) to this, his unmistakable art.

The ochs und junior Christmas edition settimana 2024 enclosed in the comic booklet by Sjoerd van Rooijen can be ordered on our homepage under the settimana line from October 19th, 2024, at a price of CHF 2400 (export price) / CHF 2594.40 (incl. 8.1% VAT).

Orders up to and including November 20th will be delivered by December 20th, 2024. Orders placed after November 20th, 2024, will be delivered by January 31st, 2025 at the latest.
