New Design Options for the HANDwerk Collection & Kudoke 3 Nocturne as a Limited Curated Edition

Kudoke understands watchmaking as an interplay of time, craftsmanship, and attitude. With the introduction of a new engraving option for the movement as well as a dark dial newly available for the Kudoke 3, the independent German manufacture expands its HANDwerk collection with two forms of expression that do not seek attention, but reveal themselves through closer observation. These innovations ultimately come together in the limited special edition Kudoke 3 Nocturne as a deliberately curated whole.

The unconventional time display of the Kudoke 3 remains unchanged. Minutes are indicated in a classical manner by a large hand on the upper dial ring. The hours are displayed on a three-part applied plate on the lower dial level.

An exceptional three-armed hour hand moves between the dial levels and switches between scales when reading the time. The hours 2, 6, and 10 appear twice before the active arm continues its progression.

New Movement Engraving: Flakes

Hand engraving has always been a central element of Kudoke’s DNA. With the new Flakes engraving, which can already be applied to the upper dial of the Kudoke 3 upon request, the manufacture expands its repertoire with an additional option for the artisanal decoration of the movement bridge.

The Flakes technique is characterized by gradually cutting small flakes of material out of the surface. This creates a finely structured, lively texture that subtly reflects light. This elaborate and time-consuming process requires the highest level of precision and experience – each engraving is unique.

The Flakes engraving is now offered as an optional movement engraving for all models of the HANDwerk collection in the familiar electroplating colors. It complements the well-known floral bridge engraving and offers collectors new possibilities for individualization.

Dark Dial for Kudoke 3

Introduced in 2023 and awarded the GPHG Petite Aiguille Award in 2024, the Kudoke 3 represents an independent approach to time display and craftsmanship. With the new dark dial, this award-winning model gains an additional, deliberately restrained facet.

The galvanic black upper dial is positioned above a base dial and elements treated with black gold. Instead of strong contrasts, the design is defined by subtle differentiation within a dark tonal spectrum.

The dial printing follows this approach and is intentionally executed in silver rather than white. It integrates harmoniously into the overall composition and reinforces the concept of understated differentiation. This dial variant is regularly available for the Kudoke 3 and is not limited to a special edition.

Kudoke 3 Nocturne – the Curated Special Edition

The Kudoke 3 Nocturne represents the deliberate convergence of these two new forms of expression. It combines the dark dial with the Flakes movement engraving and is executed exclusively for this special edition in a matte sandblasted stainless steel case. This case finish is reserved solely for the Kudoke 3 Nocturne and is not offered on the regular versions of this model.

The matte surface reduces reflections and gives the watch a calm, closed presence. Nothing seeks attention – everything is subordinated to the overall composition. The name Nocturne consciously references the Kudoke 2 Nocturne from 2020 and stands for an aesthetic that fully unfolds only in quiet contemplation.

In contrast to the regular versions of the Kudoke 3 with blued steel hands, the Nocturne features polished steel hands. This decision emphasizes the deliberately monochromatic design concept of the watch and integrates seamlessly into its reduced, darker character.

The Kudoke 3 Nocturne is released in a limited edition of 20 pieces. Each watch is handcrafted, engraved, and finished by hand at the manufacture in Weifa. The special edition is not conceived as an exclusive technical variant, but as a curated combination of new design options within the HANDwerk collection.
