Kallinich Claeys Einser Zentralsekunde
Derived from the German word "Eins," meaning "first" or "number one," the Einser marks the beginning of our watchmaking journey. As the first cornerstone in a series of watch families, each model in the collection will embody its own distinctive style and character. The Einser combines the revered traditions of Glashütte craftsmanship with modern, innovative twists a reflection of the vision shared by Johannes and Thibault. The collection features three models, each with its own unique design, color palette, and standout elements. What unites them is a groundbreaking innovation: the power reserve indication, elegantly integrated into the side of the case—a world-first in watchmaking. This feature not only enhances the readability of the timepiece but also serves as a striking visual signature.
Founded by Johannes and Thibault, the project is driven by passion and expertise. Kallinich Claeys breathes new life into traditional Glashütte watchmaking. With a background at A. Lange & Söhne, Johannes brings experience in design and construction, while Thibault's deep knowledge of tools and finishing creates the perfect partnership.
Johannes began his watchmaking career in 2013 after completing his three-year education in Glashütte. Immediately following his graduation, he joined A. Lange & Söhne in the Saxonia department. After three years, he became the head of the Lange 1 department. Later on, seeking new challenges, he transitioned to the chronograph department. During his education to become a Master Watchmaker, which he successfully completed in 2021, he met Thibault.
Thibault completed a three-year watchmaking education in Antwerp, Belgium, and upon graduation, he accepted a position in the 1815 department at A. Lange & Söhne. What began as a friendship soon blossomed into a business partnership after both decided to resign. Thibault, with his passion for machines, tools and finishing, and Johannes, who brings valuable experience in construction and design, form a dynamic team filled with fresh ideas.
The Einser Central Seconds
In 2024, Kallinich Claeys has debuted with the Einser “Founders Edition” limited to 8 pieces, and a 22-piece edition with a guilloché dial. In addition to that, 10 Hong Kong editions will be made in partnership with A Watch Company, featuring a brown dial.
This exclusive 30-piece limited series represents the cornerstone of the brand's journey, supporting the creation and development of its future. The Einser “Founders Edition” is proudly designed, developed, and finished entirely in-house. Every detail in this timepiece reflects brand's commitment to high-end craftsmanship.
The initial "Founders Edition" comes with a hand-engraved dial with abstract triangle pattern, contrasted by an eccentric circle with tremblage, while an additional 22-piece edition features a guilloché dial made by hand on a traditional rose engine. Three-dimensional teardrop hands, with their complex chamfers on both the inside and outside, add depth and sophistication to the piece.
A refined case design with stepped lugs which seamlessly flow into the indented middle section, houses one of our main eye-catchers, the power reserve mechanism. Fully visible not just from the back of the watch but also through the sapphire crystal window on the side of the case—a world-first feature.
Winding the watch allows you to witness the power reserve’s inner workings in action, marrying functionality with visual spectacle in a way that is both innovative and mesmerizing. Its movement the KC001.1, is a showcase of mechanical artistry. The open-worked bridges crafted from German silver create a certain feeling of depth.
Delicate sandblasted surfaces provide the perfect contrast to the 18kt gold chatons and high-polished chamfers, featuring 19 meticulously hand-cut sharp inner angles—a hallmark of dedication to our craft. Furthermore, a hand-engraved balance cock, featuring our signature "Shark Gill" engraving, adds a distinct special touch.
The finishing techniques and design elements throughout the piece elegantly blend the time-honored traditions of Glashütte watchmaking with modern design philosophy, showcasing the perfect harmony between heritage and innovation.
