Frederique Constant Highlife Moonphase Date Manufacture
Revived in 2020, the Highlife collection continues its journey through horological complications. After the worldtimer, chronograph and perpetual calendar, comes the Highlife Moonphase Date Manufacture. Classic yet dreamlike, it embodies Frederique Constant’s guiding philosophy: a finely crafted complication watch with an in-house movement and Manufacture module. A unique position on the market at just €4,495, with an extended five-year warranty. Two 39 mm stainless steel versions leave no room for compromise. They come with a blue or rosé champagne dial, each paired with interchangeable leather and steel bracelets.
Manufacture movement and module
The Highlife Moonphase Date is equipped with two new complications powered by the Manufacture movement, the FC-716. This self-winding calibre is designed and assembled at the heart of the Geneva-based Maison. It offers a generous three-day power reserve (72 hours), thanks to a barrel spring made from a new alloy, housed within a redesigned barrel. On the dial side, Frederique Constant has developed an ultra-realistic moon display, revealing its surface with shades of grey, reliefs, and shadowed areas.
This combination of moon phase and date feels entirely natural. In fact, the date change drives the progression of the moon through its cycle (an average of 29.5 days). Both complications are synchronised, and all functions are set via the crown, with efficiency and simplicity.
Visible through a sapphire case back, the perlage and Côtes de Genève finishing on the movement reflect the care the Frederique Constant Manufacture brings to the decoration of its calibres.
Two contrasting variations
Frederique Constant unveils two versions, both housed in a 39 mm steel case. The sunray finish on the dial is striking: it is not centred, but instead radiates from the moon phase at 6 o’clock, which becomes the visual and aesthetic focal point of the composition.
The first version features a rosé champagne dial. This finish plays on contrast. Its golden and copper tones create a solar backdrop from which the deep sidereal blue moon phase stands out. The dial’s brilliance is enhanced by applied mirror-polished indexes filled with luminescent material, as are the hour and minute hands.
The second version embraces chromatic unity. The sunray dial is a night blue, slightly lighter than that of the moon phase. The continuity is evident, yet each section carries its own nuance, creating a soft and fluid reading. Only the final day of the month breaks the composition: a red “31” marking the end of a cycle and the beginning of the next.
Both versions share two interchangeable straps: the first in blue Saffiano leather. It stands out thanks to its signature crosshatch grain, giving it an aesthetic that is both elegant and sporty. Its protective finish makes it particularly resistant to scratches, light, and moisture. The second strap is a five-link stainless steel bracelet, alternating polished and brushed finishes. This freedom of choice allows each collector to style the watch according to their outfit, activity, or mood. A way to embrace the paradox of a watch that is both sporty and elegant.
With the Highlife Moonphase Date Manufacture, Frederique Constant continues to evolve its collection by introducing a new Manufacture complication. Powered by the FC-716 calibre and offering a 72-hour power reserve, it remains true to one of the Maison’s defining signatures: delivering Manufacture watchmaking at a unique price point of just €4,495. An even more compelling proposition, now backed by a five-year warranty, reflecting the Maison’s confidence in the reliability of its new timepiece. Without compromise, the Highlife Moonphase Date Manufacture has it all.
