Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Edwardian Edition’
Today, the Fears Watch Company announces the creation of the Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Edwardian Edition’ to be sold exclusively at British Watchmakers’ Day 2025. This new jump hour watch is housed in a solid Sterling Silver (925) case featuring a London Assay Hallmark and diamond set crown. The ‘Edwardian edition’ features a bright white lacquer dial with a heritage inspired design and matching heritage hour disc. This new watch follows the Sterling Silver exclusive Brunswick 38 ‘1924 Edition’ made for British Watchmakers’ Day in 2024.
Limited to 10 pieces only, each watch is individually numbered on its solid screw-down case back. The watches will be offered for sale exclusively at the 2025 edition of British Watchmakers’ Day and can be taken home on the day. A portion of the profits from each watch sold will be donated to the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers to support the work they do for the British watch industry.
The all polished Sterling Silver (925) case is machined from a solid block of silver, before being expertly finished with a mirror shine applied to the precious metal. The precious case houses an instantaneous jumping hour movement with a module made by fellow British brand Christopher Ward, the hour is displayed in a window at 12 o’clock on the dial while the minutes are displayed with a single hand in the dials centre. The case, case back and matching Sterling Silver buckle all carry a London Assay Hallmark confirming the finesse of the metal. The hallmark also includes the registered Fears Watch Company makers’ mark: NBS, which is the initials of the managing director, a long-standing Fears tradition dating back to 1846. The Sterling Silver winding crown is set with a flawless diamond, as is customary with all solid precious metal Fears watches.
The hand-polished lacquer dial of the ‘Edwardian edition’ features a bright white surface made up of multiple layers of white lacquer with crisp black printing applied on top. The dial’s layout features a heritage FEARS logo, numerals and custom hour disc all inspired by the Edwardian-era pocket watches found in the Fears Archive. The minutes are read by a hand varnished, diamond cut Fears ‘pipette’ shaped hand in matching glossy black, offering high contrast and heightened legibility. The monochromatic face of the watch is contrasted with a rich maple red, hand-made strap in soft Alcantara® offering a stylish finish to this unique watch.
Commenting on the announcement of the new Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Edwardian Edition’, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, (4th) Managing Director of the Fears Watch Company, says, “Only last year did the first British Watchmakers’ Day take place, with over 40 watch and clock companies located in the British Isles exhibiting. As a founding member of the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers I was delighted to take part in this exciting inaugural event and create a special Sterling Silver watch offered exclusively for sale at it. The event was a great physical showing of the excitement around British watch companies and has helped cement in people’s minds around the world the abundance of creativity and energy taking place in Britain today.
A year later I’m excited for Fears to be attending again, with even more brands exhibiting, and once again creating a special watch offered exclusively at the event, this time with a portion of the profits being donated to the Alliance to support them in the great work they do for our industry.
The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Edwardian Edition’ is a watch I’ve been wanting to create for quite some time. With its unashamedly heritage inspiration that captures the elegance and exuberance of one of my favourite periods in British history. This watch was built with no expense spared and features a custom hour disc made specially for it and a short run of precious metal cases and the result is magnificent. A true embodiment of British elegance and understatement.”
The Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour ‘Edwardian Edition’ will be available to purchase (and take home) exclusively on the day of the British Watchmakers’ Day (8th March, 2025) in person, retailing for £5,450 inc. VAT.
Five watches will be offered in the morning session and five watches in the afternoon session, all on a first come, first serve basis.
