Elka Watch Co. is proud to unveil an evolution of its iconic collection: the launch of the ‘36’, now available in an elegant and refined 36 mm diameter. This new format, five millimetres more compact than the original model, reaffirms our commitment to watchmaking that marries heritage, formal audacity and adaptability.

The initial inspiration for our first series, like Elka Watch's reinterpretations of its ‘Série 1’ models, lay in the ability to draw on a rich watchmaking past to create resolutely contemporary forms. While the shape of the ‘Série 1’ won us over with its pocket-watch inspiration, its tactile feel, and its purity of form and style, this new 36 mm version transcends the original to take it into a new dimension of versatility.

Elka Watch Co. has always regarded design as a living material, capable of reinventing itself without losing its identity. Our ‘Form Follows Feelings’ philosophy is proof of this, offering a more sensual and emotional reinterpretation of the famous Bauhaus motto ‘Form Follows Functions’.

With this 36 mm version, we're not just offering a different size; we're offering a new perspective on our masterpiece,’ says Hakim El Kadiri. The ‘36’ is a tribute to timeless elegance, designed for wrists that appreciate subtlety without sacrificing character. Every detail, from its specific chevé box sapphire crystal to the legibility of its refined dials, has been meticulously thought out to fit harmoniously into this new diameter. The watch sits remarkably comfortably, asserting its style with confidence.

Beneath this aesthetic purity, the ‘36’ houses a heart of formidable efficiency: the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement. With a power reserve of 68 hours and flawless precision, this calibre is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, allowing its sophisticated mechanics to be admired.

ELKA N-Series: The 36mm Field Watch with 1930s Heritage

Meet the ELKA N-Series, making its debut in a captivating 36mm diameter. This collection is a direct nod to the utilitarian charm of classic "Field Watches," drawing its iconic numerals from a legendary ELKA model from the 1930s. It's a true piece of history, reimagined for your wrist today.

The N-Series launches with two distinct and highly evocative dial options:

• A striking matte black, featuring "Old Radium" numerals that evoke a timeless, aged aesthetic.

• A sophisticated parchment-colored beige, contrasted with crisp black numerals for a classic, legible look.

With the N-Series, ELKA Watch Co. continues to bridge a rich historical legacy with contemporary craftsmanship, offering versatile and historically inspired timepieces that feel just right.

The range is also enhanced by two classic ‘D Series’ dials, already popular on the ‘1 Series’. Their adaptation to the 36 mm format makes these designs even more faithful to the models co-developed with Ulysse Nardin in the 1960s: choose between silver with rose gold appliques or midnight blue with rhodium-plated appliques.

Swiss Super-LumiNova® pigments are the Swiss watch industry's choice for the highest possible afterglow performance. Swiss Super-LumiNova® is non-radioactive, REACH-compatible, and highly resistant to temperature and environmental influences. It works like a battery of light accumulators: the light charges the battery and the light is then emitted continuously. This process of activation and light emission can be repeated indefinitely because the material does not age. It can be charged using sunlight or artificial light. Mixed with an appropriate specific binder, Swiss Super-LumiNova® can be applied to dials and hands.

NATO bracelet

Many people believe that the NATO bracelet is named after the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). In reality, the name is short for NATO Stocking Number, a term that simply refers to the fact that the bracelet could be purchased from the NATO supply shop. The original NATO bracelet was born in 1973 in response to the British Ministry of Defence's need to provide a heavy-duty watch strap for the British Army. The aim was to overcome the problems encountered with bracelets of the time: the problems of moisture on leather in tropical climates, the risk of reflection from the steel bracelet during a military mission, the poor reliability of rubber bracelets, and the risk of losing the watch through breakage of the spring bars (including those in the buckle). They were only available in admiral grey and were all 20 millimeters wide. The straps were made of nylon.

Sapphire crystal

Chevè-Box sapphire crystals are the most complicated version of watch sapphires. They have the appearance of Hezalite glass as it was made in the past. It should be remembered that the hardness of sapphire crystal is just behind that of diamond, at around 2000 HV.

Leather straps

Our ELKA leather straps are designed for comfort and style. The uppers are made from the finest leathers, chosen for their ability to develop a beautiful vintage patina over time. On the skin side, we use soft microfiber or Alcantara®, so that your watch is comfortable to wear from the very first moment.

Leather is a natural material that ages and develops a patina over time. For safety reasons (so that your watch stays securely on your wrist) and for aesthetic and hygiene reasons, we advise you to change your strap regularly. With normal, everyday use, a leather strap has an average life of six to twelve months.

All ELKA Watch Co. bracelets are fitted with spring bars. This means you can change them quickly, easily, and without any tools. This is ideal for adapting the look of your watch to your every whim!
