Bremont Supernova Chronograph

Luxury British watch brand Bremont will enter the history books this year as the first British watch brand to reach the Moon, as it announces a groundbreaking collaboration with the American aerospace company Astrolab and launches a bold new collection inspired by Space: ‘Supernova’, expanding on its existing Sea, Land, and Air product universes.

The Bremont Supernova Chronograph will fly aboard Astrolab’s FLIP (FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform) rover, which is scheduled to land at the lunar south pole no earlier than summer 2026 as part of Astrobotic’s Griffin Mission One (Griffin-1). Having endured rigorous testing at Astrolab’s facilities in anticipation of the mission, the Bremont Supernova will face the extreme conditions of the lunar environment, an incredible feat for Bremont’s rigorous testing standards.

The mission marks a historic first of a watch being permanently placed on the Moon. For the first time, a watch will not just accompany a space mission — it will remain on the lunar surface as a lasting artefact, marking a new milestone in humanity’s presence beyond Earth.

Adding further significance, a Bremont timepiece will land on the Moon in the year that lunar time is expected to be established. The White House has tasked NASA to coordinate with stakeholders, partners and international standards organisations to establish a Coordinated Lunar Time (LTC) by the end of 2026 to provide a consistent, atomic-clock-based standard for navigation and communication. The new lunar time alongside the presence of a Bremont Supernova Chronograph on the Moon embodies one of humanity’s earliest and most enduring pursuits – the measurement of time, from the dawn of civilization to its extension into space.

Prior to the mission the Bremont Supernova and the FLIP Rover are subject to a ruthless testing program: ‘Spacecraft Protoflight Qualification’, to ensure that they can withstand the rigors of launch, flight and survival on the Moon. All tests must be passed in order to fly. Protoflight Qualification testing validates that flight hardware can survive mission environments by pushing prototype units beyond expected flight conditions — covering structural, thermal, and electrical performance to confirm design and build maturity and margin. The process follows a “Test Like You Fly” philosophy, ensuring hardware is evaluated in configurations of actual flight. Test levels are deliberately more severe than the mission’s already demanding expectations, exposing hardware to conditions beyond worst case. Throughout, detailed procedures, plans, and results are documented to the demanding standards of spaceflight. The goal: optimum performance in one of the most brutal and unforgiving environments of our solar system.

A full‑scale FLIP will be showcased at the Bremont booth at Watches & Wonders Geneva, which opens on the 14th April. This year marks Bremont’s third consecutive year exhibiting as a major brand at the show.

Introducing Supernova

Supernova presents a striking new collection, and a bold step forward in product development for Bremont. At the heart of this new category is a contemporary integrated bracelet sports chronograph, crafted from 904L stainless steel and defined by a distinctly futuristic aesthetic. The highly technical execution of this new model celebrates the boundless nature of space travel, exploration, and engineering.

The Supernova Chronograph marks the first reference launched within the newly revealed universe – the perfect extension to Bremont’s existing collections: Supermarine, Terra Nova and Altitude. The Supernova line is positioned at the top of Bremont’s collection architecture, and earns its place through its exceptional technical expression, materiality and uncompromising construction.

Introducing a bold design language, reflecting the advanced engineering and angular, geometric forms associated with modern space technology and the aerospace industry, the entire design process was inspired by space stations and spacecraft—both real and imagined. Geometrical forms, sharp structural lines, and engineered surfaces informed every decision, creating a distinct design unlike anything else in the market.

The resulting 41mm Supernova Chronograph is distinguished by its innovative three-dimensional dial design, geometric case architecture and multi-faceted decahedral black ceramic bezel.

A complex sandwich‑style case architecture, echoes Bremont’s famed ‘trip‑tick’ 3-piece case concept. Executed in 904l steel, chosen for its exceptional corrosion resistance and lustre, the case features a refined balance of brushed and polished facets designed to catch light dramatically from a distance. Geometric bezels, angular forms, and polygonal surfaces extend from the case to the bezel, crown, and pushers.

The intricate dial of the Supernova Chronograph takes its cues from the detailed geometry of spacecraft solar arrays and solar sail panels. An interlocking black galvanic perforated grid structure with triangular pathways that draws the eye to the centre of the dial, is set over a full Super‑LumiNova® (blue‑emission) layer that delivers exceptional legibility in low-light conditions. The vivid blue glow, reminiscent of the luminescent energy that emits from spacecraft, heightens the watch’s futuristic presence and reinforces the inspiration behind the Supernova collection.

Triangular applied indexes that echo the dial geometry are filled with white Super‑LumiNova® (blue emission), while the sub‑dials at 3 and 9 o’clock mirror the same grid structure and luminescent underlayer. Galvanic silver rings frame each sub‑dial, adding depth and precision to the layout. Rhomboidal Black Gold hour, minute, and sub‑dial hands are each filled with white Super‑LumiNova® to further ensure perfect readability in all conditions and further echo the modern and geometric design language.

At the heart of the Supernova lies the chronometer rated BC77 movement with high finishing and a sixty-two‑hour power reserve. The exhibition case back reveals the beauty of the calibre and decorated rotor. The Supernova is offered with a 904L stainless steel integrated bracelet or an integrated rubber strap with a new folding clasp, both equipped with quick‑release mechanisms for effortless interchangeability. The integrated bracelet design offers a seamless transition from case to strap, creating a streamlined silhouette that feels purpose-built for this new frontier.
