Benrus DTU Shield

In 1964, the Benrus DTU-2A/P was developed in response to updated U.S. military specifications for a reliable, precise field watch. Designed for the Vietnam War era, it combined rugged, no-nonsense construction with a clear, legible dial for quick reading in the field. This model later inspired the legendary Type I. With deep ties to the military since 1921, Benrus became the first brand to win the MIL-W-3818B contract, producing official mil-spec watches for U.S. troops. Both metal and plastic versions of the DTU became trusted tools in the field, celebrated for their toughness, readability, and enduring reliability.

Today, on Veterans Day 2025, Benrus proudly introduces the DTU Shield, a modern reinterpretation of this iconic field watch. Featuring a light silver, easy-to-read dial, Old Radium Super-LumiNova markers, and glow-in-the-dark hands, the DTU Shield guarantees perfect legibility in any condition, day or night. True to our motto, “For the Brave, By the Brave,” this watch honours those who serve while bringing the timeless DTU spirit into the modern era.

A modern collection, rooted in heritage

The DTU Shield is the latest addition to Benrus’ expanding DTU collection, joining the original DTU, the DTU UB with a Bronze PVD case and green dial, and the DTU Phantom with a Black PVD case and black dial. All 38 mm in diameter, these contemporary interpretations celebrate Benrus’ military heritage while offering collectors and adventurers a versatile, rugged lineup. The DTU Shield is a proud continuation of this evolution - a modern watch with historical roots.

Balancing toughness with wearability, the DTU Shield features a 38 mm sandblasted 316L stainless steel case with screw-down crown. A double-domed sapphire crystal with dual anti-reflective coating ensures perfect clarity, while 10 ATM water resistance prepares the watch for daily life or demanding outdoor adventures.

At its heart beats the Swiss ETA 2892 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, delivering the precision and reliability expected from a true military-inspired watch. The fabric strap with pin buckle offers comfort and practicality, while the closed sandblasted stainless-steel case back preserves its rugged aesthetic.
