Awake unveils « Jurassic Watch », the first edition of the "A Tribute To The Seventh Art" project, an artistic homage through the Métiers d’Art to the cult movies that marked our youth and will always resonate in our childlike hearts.

« Jurassic Watch » comes in two limited versions inspired by one of Steven Spielberg's most iconic films, released in 1993 and based on the novel by Michael Crichton: Jurassic Park.

• Two Limited Series: A "T-REX" version and a "RAPTORS" version, each limited to 50 pieces, paying tribute to the two most terrifying species of this legendary Hollywood saga. Made famous by the first Jurassic Park movie, T-Rex and Velociraptors have become the most popular predators of the prehistoric era, inspiring awe and fascination even in the world’s greatest museums.

• Hand made dials: Our master lacquer drew inspiration from the cinematographic irises of these prehistoric animals to create unique colors exclusively reserved for this special edition. Using techniques introduced in our Sơn Mài collection, the dials offer exceptional depth and reflections thanks to multiple layers of lacquer, natural pigments, and the shimmering effect of silver leaf. A meticulous, hand-crafted process that captures the gaze of these cruel creatures.

• Marine leather straps: We selected scaled salmon leather from Ictyos for its unique and almost reptilian texture. Beyond its distinctive grain, this exceptional leather offers virtually unlimited creative potential, perfectly aligning with AWAKE spirit.

• AWAKE lume signature: based on a complex and exclusive construction of indexes and hands, wrapped in BGW9 Super-LumiNova® , this Jurassic Watch offers a subtle play of chiaroscuro that enhances the depth and reflections of the lacquer, transforming the space between the sapphire crystal and the dial into a veritable chamber of luminous reflection for a unique visual signature.

• Swiss Made: Assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking, these two editions are equipped with G101 calibers from La Joux-Perret Manufacture.

• Golden ticket - One of the 100 « Jurassic Watch » boxes will feature a real dinosaur tooth accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. A rare symbol of an era that continues to fuel both science and the collective imagination, this impressive tooth will delight the person who unknowingly receives this relic from the past.

The Power of Reminiscence!

"Jurassic Watch" is a collaborative project bringing together artisans and technicians, each playing a role in offering an artistic and horological interpretation of a movie that left a mark on millions of viewers who grew up in the 90s. This highly exclusive edition caters to both watch enthusiasts and the movie fan in all of us, to stimulate our nostalgia and share it with the next generations.

Our master lacquer meticulously blended and adjusted pigments to recreate the merciless gaze of the film’s iconic monsters, to whom this edition pays tribute.

The T-REX version in details

The T-REX version features a gradient fire-orange dial, with its intense colour and striking reflections. Above the hour-marker at 6 o'clock, an applique representing 2 claw marks is subtly set, a nod to the fact that the T-Rex's forelimbs only had 2 sharp claws...

It is combined with a bright iridescent orange marine leather strap with a reptilian appearance, lined with orange calfskin featuring tone-on-tone hand stitching.

The caseback of this version is engraved with "Spared No Expense," a famous quote from John Hammond’s character. The eccentric and visionary billionaire successfully resurrected dinosaurs through genetics, and decided to use them to create Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar, a private island he owns off the coast of Costa Rica. Throughout the tour intended to finalize the park’s opening, he repeatedly tells the committee of experts that he « spared no expense »… The rest is history...

This version brings to mind the cult scene of the T-Rex attacking, at night and in the pouring rain, the cars in which frightened humans have taken refuge, trying to escape from this monster from the distant past.

The RAPTORS version in details

The RAPTORS version features a dial in multiple shades of green, reminiscent of the eye of the film's most intelligent and devious creature: the Velociraptor. This time, 3 claw marks have been applied to the dial, reminiscent of those that adorned the forelegs of the ferocious predator.

Echoing the T-REX version, it is fitted with iridescent green marine leather, lined with khaki calfskin.

Another cult quote from the film is inscribed on the back of the box, this time borrowed from Dr Ian Malcolm, a mathematician and expert in chaos theory, serving as the voice of reason against John Hammond's genetic delirium: "Life Finds a Way"… A prediction that will prove tragically accurate and seal the destiny of the park...

This model brings us back to the kitchen scene in which two Raptors first open the door with their knife-sharp claws, then attempt to devour the children…

A caseback full of details

Each of the two versions features a completely reinterpreted movement-ring, in line with the theme of this special edition and embodying our constant attention to detail.

It is decorated with a laser-engraved "jungle" motif inspired by the tropical foliage so omnipresent in the film.

The name of the Jurassic Watch project at 12 o'clock and the statement Swiss Made at 6 o'clock are engraved in a font immediately evocative of the world of the saga, while at 3 o'clock is the individual number of each watch.

At 9 o'clock on the T-REX version, the quotation ‘Spared No Expense’ is borrowed from the character of John Hammond.

At 9 o'clock on the RAPTORS version, the quote ‘Life Finds a Way’ borrowed from the character of Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Golden ticket

One of the 100 Jurassic Watch sets will contain an incredibly rare and highly sought-after object: a genuine Carcharodontosaurus tooth, from a dinosaur that dominated North Africa between 93 and 100 million years ago, and known as one of the biggest predators ever recorded. This 10-centimeter (!) tooth, discovered at Kem Kem in Morocco, will be accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
