Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew
Ace Jewelers is proud to announce its latest collaboration with Britain’s leading watch brand, resulting in the release of the limited edition The Twelve Hebrew. This special model offers a unique take on Christopher Ward’s iconic Twelve, featuring a vibrant blue gradient dial and a Hebrew numeral ‘12’—a unique nod to cultural heritage and timeless design.
A Unique Take on The Twelve
The Ace Jewelers The Twelve Hebrew is based on the stainless steel 40mm Twelve, Christopher Ward’s highly acclaimed integrated bracelet sports watch. What makes this edition truly special is its vibrant blue dial. Additionally, while the gradient finish is typically seen only on the titanium versions of The Twelve, Ace Jewelers brings this effect to the stainless steel model for the first time. Lastly, the Hebrew ‘12’ marker is a subtle but unique feature that adds an extra layer of distinction to this timepiece.
Alon Ben Joseph, co-owner of Ace Jewelers, reflects on the partnership: “My brother Amir and I have been great fans of Christopher Ward for many years. When Adrian Buchmann, a Board Member and Design Consultant at Christopher Ward and a close friend, showed me the prototype of The Twelve, I fell in love immediately. I knew I had to pitch a collaboration idea. Adrian introduced me to the brand’s CEO, Mike France, and we connected instantly. Mike loved our vision of creating a Hebrew-inspired Twelve, and the entire process has been a true pleasure.”
He added: “We were captivated by how The Twelve never featured the number 12 on the dial. This sparked our idea to incorporate the number 12 in Hebrew, making the design both architectural and symbolic. With Adrian’s help, we brought this concept to life in no time.”
Buchmann added: “While I’m particularly proud of the incorporation of the number 12 on the dial, the texture also provided an exceptional foundation to make this project truly unique in that the colour we chose shifts dynamically with different lighting and viewing angles.”
The Twelve: More Than Just a Watch
The Twelve is Christopher Ward’s first integrated bracelet sports watch since the C20 Lido in 2008, representing a new pillar for the brand. This watch combines an impressive build quality with a sleek fit and finish, bringing five-figure quality levels into the real world. It sits comfortably in that space between strictly dressy and purely sporty—where most of us live our lives.
Taking inspiration from many of the iconic designs that rose to prominence in the 1970s, such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus, The Twelve carries forward that heritage with a modern twist. Its dodecagonal bezel, heavily textured three-dimensional dial, and intricate surface finishes on the case and bracelet make it one of Christopher Ward’s boldest designs yet.
As you turn The Twelve in your hands, it reveals intriguing details at every angle. A playful nod to the Royal Oak, six exposed screws secure the 12-sided case-back, while Christopher Ward’s signature sword and triangle handset provides a refined and sophisticated look. This is a watch that sparkles in the sunlight, comes alive under dimmed lights, and feels perfectly at home whether you’re dressing up or down.
The Timeless Power of Twelve: Exploring Its Meaning Across Culture, Time, and Watchmaking
The number twelve is one of the most enduring symbols in human culture, science, and art. It represents completeness, balance, and order—qualities that have fascinated civilizations across the world for millennia. From ancient mythology to modern timekeeping, twelve has woven itself into the fabric of our understanding of the cosmos, culture, and even the human experience.
In the Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew, the number twelve is celebrated not just as a marker of time but as a connection to history, tradition, and craftsmanship. This collaboration explores the depth of twelve’s significance across the ages, linking the past with the precision of modern watchmaking.
The Mathematical and Cosmic Elegance of Twelve
The beauty of twelve lies in its mathematical versatility. It can be divided evenly into halves, thirds, and quarters, making it a natural choice for systems of time and measurement. Ancient civilizations like the Babylonians recognized this, using twelve to divide their calendars and clocks—a legacy that endures in our twelve-hour days and twelve-month years.
But twelve’s significance doesn’t stop at practicality. In geometry, the dodecahedron— composed of twelve faces—was revered by the ancient Greeks as a symbol of the universe. The twelve zodiac signs, mapping the heavens, have guided human understanding of cosmic cycles for thousands of years.
For horologists, twelve is more than just a numeral on a watch face. It’s the axis upon which time turns. On a watch, the twelve o’clock marker signals both the end of one cycle and the start of another. It’s a point of renewal, just as twelve has marked the rhythm of days, months, and years throughout history.
Twelve in Religion and Culture: A Number of Divine Completeness
Twelve is a sacred number in many of the world’s major religions. In Christianity, twelve represents completeness and divine authority. Jesus chose twelve apostles, a symbol that mirrored the twelve tribes of Israel in the Old Testament, reflecting a sense of spiritual wholeness. In the Bible’s Book of Revelation, the New Jerusalem is described as having twelve gates, guarded by twelve angels, symbolizing divine order and protection.
Mythologies across the world, from the twelve Olympian gods in ancient Greece to the twelve sons of Odin in Norse mythology, have used twelve to express completeness and cosmic balance. It is a number that signifies the harmonious structure of the universe, something that resonates deeply with people across time and culture.
Twelve in Science and Nature
In the natural world, twelve continues to be a key reference point. Humans have twelve cranial nerves that control vital functions such as movement, sensation, and perception. In chemistry, magnesium, the twelfth element on the periodic table, is essential for life, playing a crucial role in everything from muscle function to the process of photosynthesis in plants.
The significance of twelve extends to music and art as well. In Western music, the twelvetone scale forms the basis of harmonic theory, influencing everything from classical to contemporary compositions. In visual art, twelve has been a symbol of balance and order, seen in everything from color theory to religious iconography.
Twelve and Timekeeping: A Symbol of Cycles
In horology, twelve has always held a place of prominence. It’s the number that divides our days into two cycles, morning and night, and the top marker on most traditional watches. But on the Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew, the number twelve takes on even greater significance. Here, it is represented by the Hebrew letter "ב"י", a symbol of both cultural depth and precision.
This watch is more than just a timepiece; it is a connection to a tradition that spans millennia. The number twelve is as timeless as the watch itself, symbolizing both the cyclical nature of time and the enduring importance of craftsmanship. The Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew is not just a watch you wear—it’s a piece of history and culture, a modern masterpiece that draws from ancient wisdom.
The Timeless Appeal of Twelve in Watchmaking
As a marker of time and a symbol of tradition, twelve will always hold a place in our collective imagination. In the Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew, this number is celebrated not only for its functional importance but also for its deep cultural significance. The Hebrew twelve on the dial serves as a subtle nod to the rich symbolism of the number twelve across cultures and history. It adds a layer of depth to the watch’s design, connecting modern craftsmanship with the timeless legacy of tradition and precision.
This watch embodies the spirit of twelve, a number that has guided us through time, tradition, and culture. By wearing the Ace x Christopher Ward The Twelve Hebrew, you carry with you the legacy of the past and the promise of the future—both measured by the timeless rhythm of twelve.
