Gerald Charles announces partnership with Alex de Minaur
A choice of independence: Alex de Minaur partners with Gerald Charles. The tennis star, ranked No. 6 in the world on the ATP Tour, selects Gerald Charles among independent watch brands
We chose Alex not only for the exceptional professional athlete he is, but also for his genuine passion for fine and vintage watchmaking. Beyond his performance on court, we were impressed by his cultural sensitivity and deep appreciation for horology - values that resonate strongly with the spirit and heritage of Gerald Charles.” - Federico Ziviani, CEO, Gerald Charles.
Gerald Charles is proud to announce a new collaboration with Australian tennis star Alex De Minaur, who has deliberately chosen to partner with an independent Maison, marking the beginning of a shared journey rooted in performance, precision, and independence.
Turned professional in 2015, Alex de Minaur is internationally recognised for his exceptional speed, defensive skills, and relentless intensity on court - qualities that have earned him the nickname “Demon” among fans and peers. In July 2024, he reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of World No. 6, cementing his status as Australia’s leading male tennis player of the past 20 years.
I am incredibly proud to partner with Gerald Charles. People who know me know I am a watch guy. To represent and work closely with a brand founded by Gérald Charles Genta and built in his name and vision is something very special to me. I am beyond excited to work with such a unique company of horology enthusiasts and can’t wait to get started on my own signature line.” Alex de Minaur.
De Minaur’s Grand Slam record includes multiple Quarterfinal appearances at the US Open (2020, 2024, 2025), Roland Garros (2024), Wimbledon (2024), and the Australian Open (2025). Having started playing tennis at the age of four and trained in Alicante, Spain, his career reflects discipline, resilience, and a constant pursuit of excellence - principles deeply aligned with Gerald Charles.
Alex De Minaur will next take to the court at the Australian Open in Melbourne, wearing the Maestro GC Sport Tennis in Yellow, a striking timepiece from the GC Sport collection that is now sold out.
Designed and developed with professional athletes, the GC Sport collection represents the pinnacle of performance watchmaking at Gerald Charles. Crafted in Grade 5 titanium, it is the lightest watch in the Maison’s collection. The model features a left-hand screw-down crown to prevent rubbing during intense activity, as well as a Velcro strap designed to enhance comfort and ergonomics. The watch meets the Ergonteq standard, an in-house concept developed by Gerald Charles to ensure optimal wearability, ergonomics, and performance.
This collaboration marks an important new chapter for Gerald Charles, uniting contemporary athletic excellence with the Maison’s uncompromising standards of design, innovation, and independent watchmaking.
When the opportunity to work with Gerald Charles came up, I met with Federico and the team. I loved their energy and ideas and was immediately sold on their genuine enthusiasm for creating exclusive, exciting legacy pieces that remain true to the brand’s unique designs and shapes, without compromising the quality and expertise Gérald Genta envisioned all those years ago. I feel privileged - and feel a responsibility - to carry the Gerald Charles brand forward with professionalism, innovation, and precision, all traits I have relied on throughout my career on court.” Alex de Minaur.
