ART IN TIME Brings Watchmaking Artistry to Gstaad

After over five years of redefining the horological landscape in Monaco, ART IN TIME is embarking on its first journey in Switzerland. This winter, the gallery will present an exceptional temporary exhibition in Gstaad, the ultimate alpine destination, in collaboration with Studio Naegeli Gallery from 19 December 2025 to March 2026.

An Artistic Dialogue in Gstaad

For its debut in Gstaad, ART IN TIME will present a curated selection of outstanding horological creations. These pieces have been conceived by true artisans whose art form is contemporary watchmaking. This collaboration with Studio Naegeli Gallery, a renowned art gallery in the region, will also feature an exhibition under the title "Temporal Matter" of significant artworks, creating a unique dialogue between mechanical ingenuity and artistic expression.

The exhibition presents photographs of Jacques Nægeli’s captured mountains and glaciers that seem to exist before and beyond humans, yet even they change and disappear, reminding us of time’s passage. Jean Tinguely’s sketches render machines in constant motion, Mikhail Romadin’s illustrations imagine systems to measure cosmic cycles, complemented by Thomas Ruff’s tracing starlight from millions of years ago. Funny Brennan’s miniature paintings echoing watchmaking precision. Carl Andre’s textual work reflects time trough minimal gestures, pauses and traces of memory. Jonas Wyssen’s AI-generated quartz disintegration and Philip Vermeulen’s hypnotic light works explore temporal processes through new technologies.

About Studio Naegeli Gallery

Studio Naegeli, located in the historic Chalet Naegeli at the center of the Promenade in Gstaad, was founded by curator Anna Högl and Jacques Naegeli’s grandson Christian Högl. Originally Jacques Naegeli’s studio (1914), it combines a gallery and a platform for contemporary art also managing the photographer’s archive in collaboration with the Swiss National Library.

In the past few years gallery has organized notable exhibitions including works by Mikhail Romadin - art director for Tarkovsky’s films, Soundwalk Collective and a music legend Patti Smith, following their success at the Centre Pompidou, Paris and a solo show this summer by Trix and Robert Haussmann - among the most famous Swiss architects and artists. In collaboration with Galerie Mitterrand, Paris, Studio has presented rare selections of works by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, alongside masterpieces by Basquiat, Picasso, Dubuffet, Wesselmann, Kusama, Tinguely, Richter, Armleder, Soulages, and Hartung.
