Phillips: A Unique F.P.Journe Chronomètre à Résonance Fetches US$2.98 Million

A Unique F.P.Journe Chronomètre à Résonance Fetches SGD 4 Million/ US$2.98 Million at the “Ball in Monaco” Gala Charity Auction in Singapore. All proceeds benefit the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Singapore – 2 December 2024 - F.P.Journe has once again showcased its philanthropic spirit with the sale of a unique Chronomètre à Résonance. This exceptional timepiece was auctioned by Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Asia, Phillips, at the ninth edition of the “Ball in Monaco” gala, held in Singapore on November 27. The watch achieved a remarkable SGD 4 million (US$2.98 million), with all proceeds benefiting the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which supports environmental preservation efforts. The result came after a 15-minute bidding war involving nine phone bidders and multiple room bidders, all fiercely determined to acquire the watch.

The unique Chronomètre à Résonance sold in Singapore on 27 November follows in the footsteps of previous singular Journe pieces made for the Foundation’s charity auction: 2018’s Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante and 2022’s Chronomètre Optimum. This latest addition is arguably the most creative yet. It features a burgundy colour and ruthenium-plated guilloché Silver dial, thoughtfully integrating traditional Chinese numerals alongside Oracle Bone Script. The right dial showcases sleek, modern Chinese numerals, while the left dial nods to history with characters inspired by the Oracle Bone Script, an ancient writing form dating back to the Shang dynasty over 3,000 years ago. This unique Chronomètre à Résonance bears the serial number 638-RQ and an inscription marking its significance: “S.A.S Albert II Singapore 2024.”
